Output in the year in which the wind turbine is connected to the grid for the first time is calculated on a proportional basis to the effect that one month of output is considered to be one-twelfth of one year’s output. |
| Green certificates | Italy and Poland have introduced green certificates allotted to producers of alternative energy in proportion to the output generated by each producer. The certificates represent a subsidy to the producers, contributing to settling a higher price for electricity generated from alternative sources than electricity generated from fossil fuels. The green certificates are sold via special energy exchanges in which the buyers are the power companies that produce power generated by fossil fuel as these producers are required by law to generate a certain percentage of their combined output using alternative energy. If such production is not available, they need to compensate by acquiring green certificates. |
